2 Nephi Chapter 11
Verse 2
Nephi delights in the words of Isaiah. I think that I need to spend more time studying Isaiah and his words. I sometimes think that it is too hard for me to understand and I choose to skip those sections or to read over them quickly. This is a goal that I need to work on.
Verse 6
Without Christ, we would all perish. I am so grateful that the Savior chose to come to earth and atone for my sins so that I don’t have to perish. I have a desire to return to my father’s presence and it is through the atonement of Jesus Christ that that is possible.

Day 79: November 15, 2011
2 Nephi Chapter 10
Verse 17
Our Father in Heaven promises to fulfill all that he has promised. He has a plan for us and he will keep his promises as we strive to live worthy and keep the promises that we made to him.
Verse 20
We are commanded to remember our merciful Lord. I think my thoughts are not always centered on the Savior as they should be. I know that if I remembered him more often than life would be easier and I would be happier more often. I notice that when my thoughts are centered on him and his gospel I am in a better mood and the “bad” things that happen to me are not that big of a deal because I know the outcome.
Verse 23
Cheer up your hearts! We get to make our own choices and live our life the way we want. What an amazing blessing from our Heavenly Father, the ability to choose! I need to remember that there are really only two choices. I can choose to follow Heavenly Father and choose eternal life, or I can choose to follow Satan and choose eternal death. I think I like the first option MUCH better.
Verse 24
Reconcile my will to the will of Heavenly Father. I want to live his will and his plan for me. I am too impatient sometimes and don’t want to wait for his will to get here, but I know that in the end I will be much happier and blessed if I will just relax and stop trying to push my will upon him.

Day 78: November 14, 2011
2 Nephi Chapter 9
Verse 28
Satan has a very cunning plan. He knows us each so well and is working so hard to get us to mess up so that he can joy in our mistakes. We need to stand up to him and not allow him power over us. I think sometimes we do not recognize that he is a real individual and he will not stop until he has won us over or until the time comes for him to be bound. Knowing this means that we must be constantly aware of the temptations that enter into our lives.
Chapter 9 is so full of the great plan of our Heavenly Father. I once again am amazed at how perfect that plan is. He knows and understands what needs to happen for us to have eternal life. What a blessing. I loved the opportunities I had to teach investigators the plan of salvation on my mission. IT made me so happy to share something that means so much to me with people who didn’t know yet. I learned so much as I taught and my testimony was greatly strengthened. I love the gospel.

Day 77: November 13, 2011
2 Nephi Chapter 9
Verse 3
Lift up your heads and rejoice forever! Our Father in Heaven loves us and desires to bless us greatly. We are his children. I am so grateful for that knowledge. All that I am blessed with is from a Loving Heavenly Father. He knows me personally and intimately. He knows the desires of my heart and understands what I need in order to be happy. I think of all the billions of people who have ever lived upon this earth. Even amidst all of them, he still knows me and loves me. I awe at that. I am so happy today and it’s because I know who I am. I can feel his love for me.
Verse 13
O how great the plan of our God! This chapter is all about the great plan of happiness. I am so grateful for my Heavenly Father’s plan. Because of his plan we were able to come to this earth to gain bodies and develop talents and have experiences needed to progress and return to his presence again. We are human, by our nature and because of the Fall of Adam and Eve; we are prone to sin and make mistakes. Our Father knew that, and planned a way that we can make up for those mistakes and be forgiven. That way was for his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to come down to this earth to atone for the sins of each of the children of God. Jesus offered himself as a sacrifice, a perfect sacrifice and agrees to be our advocate with the Father. I am so grateful that I can repent and be forgiven of the stupid mistakes I make each and every day. When I think of this great plan I am filled with happiness and know that my Father in Heaven loves me so much. He has a plan personally for me and one day I will be able to achieve greatness with his help. I am so HAPPY!

Day 76: November 11, 2011
2 Nephi Chapter 8
This chapter is full of Isaiah’s symbolic words, which are very hard for me to understand. A lot of this chapter was asking Israel, me, to awake and put on the strength of the Lord. I need to trust in him and rely upon him and not on myself or the worlds.
While reading tonight my mind was having a hard time focusing on the words and meanings but I was thinking about service. I need to be of better service to others. I sometimes get too caught up with my own needs and problems that I forget to look to see if there are other people who are in more need than I. This is something I desire to change in my life. I know that serving is a way to tell my father in Heaven how much I love him and show him how grateful I am. I need to be more observant of those around me.

Day 75: November 9, 2011
2 Nephi Chapter 7
Verse 1
Words of Isaiah. The Lord asks if he has put us away or offered a bill of divorcement. He then says that we have put ourselves away because of our sins. The Lord never moves, we do. If I make the choices I need to I don’t need to worry about being far away from the Savior. But I think this verse makes me realize that I am the one that makes the choice of whether he is in my life or not. And I want him in my life!
Verse 9
The Lord will help me. How grateful for those words. I know that the Lord will help me in my life as I draw unto him and strive to live his will. Sometimes that is easier said than done, especially when I am so impatient in waiting for his will. But I know he will help me.

Day 74: November 8, 2011
2 Nephi Chapter 6
Verse 5:
Jacob is speaking of the words of Isaiah concerning the House of Israel. He tells his people that these words can be likened unto them because they are of the House of Israel. I am also of the House of Israel. I need to study more intently the words of Isaiah and strive to apply them to my life because they do concern me. I struggle with understanding Isaiah but it is definitely something I need to work on.
Day 74: November 7, 2011
2 Nephi Chapter 5
Verse 10-11
Nephi and his people lived the commandments and did as the Lord directed them and because of that they were blessed with abundance and prospered in the land. The Lord promises us many blessings when we are faithful to the commandments.
Verse 16
Nephi knew of the importance of temples and he built one. I need to not take the temple for granted as I have. It is in the temple that the work of the Lord can be done. I am always filled with so much peace and love when I am in the temple. I need to make it more of a priority.

Day 73: November 3, 2011
2 Nephi Chapter 5
Verse 1-4
I think it would be so hard to be in Nephi’s position. He was younger than his brothers and yet he was called to lead them and to take charge over them. I bet he felt bad having to call his brothers to repentance. Sometimes we have to stand up for what we know to be true and right even when it’s hard. Nephi was willing to do this because he trusted the Lord. Sometimes I wonder if I can be strong enough even when all those around me might criticize me. I hope so.

Day 72: November 2, 2011
2 Nephi Chapter 4
Verses 1-12
Lehi knows his life is near the end and he wants to give his children one last blessing before he dies. He loves his children so much. Even though he knew Laman and Lemuel were so far from the Lord, we wanted to know that he had done all he could to give them hope. Lehi was a good father. I have a good father and mother too. They do so much for me and I know that I take that for granted sometimes. They want me to be happy and safe, just as Lehi desired for his children. I love my parents and am so grateful that Heavenly Father sent me to such a wonderful family. I am truly blessed.
Verses 15-35
I love Nephi’s words here. This is what is considered his Psalm. He just writes the feelings of his heart and the thoughts of his mind. He calls himself a wretched man and talks about how temptation sometimes gets into the way. He understands that he is nothing without the Atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ. He proclaims that he trusts the Lord and not the arm of flesh. He cries to the Lord to encircle him about with his love and protect him from his enemies. Such inspiring words. I love it! I love the scriptures. I am so glad my mom has challenged me to be better with my reading. I needed that extra boost and I am loving it!

Day 71: November 1, 2011
2 Nephi Chapter 3
I love this chapter. Lehi is talking to his youngest son Joseph. He is teaching of prophecies of the prophet Joseph, who was sold into Egypt. The prophecies were about Joseph Smith and how he would come forth in these last days. I have such a strong testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that he saw God the Father and his son Jesus Christ that spring day in the grove. He was called to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth in these last days. What a blessing to have been born in the days where the gospel has been restored. I am so grateful for the knowledge I have been given and for my testimony.
